SPECK Pumps

Pumps and drives for the highest demands

SPECK Pumps

The Speck Group, with its headquarters in Roth in Germany, is a family-run enterprise in the mechanical engineering sector that manufactures high-quality pumps and compressors for industrial applications. Speck has been active in this market for over 100 years and supplies its products to original equipment manufacturers and systems manufacturers in over 80 countries. Manufacturing is usually order-based. A strong customer focus, high levels of expertise and the development of customised solutions are the main factors which set Speck apart in these activities.

They specialised products are principally used in medical technology, the chemical and pharmaceutical industries, cooling and tempering appliances and in the plastics industry. Speck is very export-oriented and employs over 575 staff members worldwide. Speck sets high standards for its own quality management processes and is certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001. The ongoing investment in the company is a cornerstone of corporate policy and simultaneously an expression of the long-term planning for our family-run enterprise.

Overview SPECK Pumps

Peripheral Impeller Pumps with Mechanical Seal and Magnetic Coupling
Regenerative turbine pumps (also known as peripheral pumps or turbine pumps) are hydraulic continuous-flow machines and a sub-type of centrifugal pump. They are classed as hydrodynamic pumps. Speck is one of the most capable and innovative providers of regenerative turbine pumps in the world, and boasts decades of experience in developing and manufacturing these pumps.

Areas of application:

  • Particularly suitable for high pressures and/or delivery pressures at relatively low flow rates
  • Suitable for clear or cloudy liquids with no abrasive contamination or solid content, and which have a kinetic viscosity of up to 100 mm²/s

Design:

  • Speck can offer you a wide spectrum of regenerative turbine pump outputs with many different constructive designs and drive types.
  • Compared to centrifugal pumps, they have considerably smaller dimensions and a simpler construction
  • Suitable for the delivery of gas shares
  • Delivering media pulsation-free
  • Reversible, i.e. it is possible to change the delivery direction (upon request)
  • Stable characteristic curves, even in varying operating states

Radial Pumps with Mechanical Seal and Magnetic Coupling
Centrifugal pumps (also known as rotary pumps, radial pumps or radial wheel pumps) are hydraulic continuous-flow machines. For decades now, Speck has been developing and manufacturing application-specific centrifugal pumps and setting new standards, especially with its innovative modular heat transfer pump system. With a cutting-edge testing area for tests up to 750 m³/h and 400 m, Speck boasts an outstanding framework for research, development and series testing.

Areas of application:

  • Particularly well suited for high flow rates at relatively low pressures or delivery pressures
  • Suitable for clear liquids with no abrasive contamination or solid content
  • The adjustment to the operating point takes place by changing the impeller diameter; higher delivery pressures or higher pressures are achieved with multi-stage designs.
  • Normal-priming, not suitable for the delivery of gas shares

Design:

  • Centrifugal pumps have enclosed impellers with a cover plate, and both open impellers and back vanes for small pumps with an EC motor
  • Alongside single-stage pumps with a volute casing or inline casing, Speck also offers horizontal, multi-stage pumps with modular design.

Side Channel Pumps
Side channel pumps (also known as turbine pumps) are hydraulic continuous-flow machines and a sub-type of centrifugal pump. They are classed as hydrodynamic pumps. For decades now, Speck has been developing and manufacturing side channel pumps and completely revised the modular system of the SK and ASK model series in 2015. With a cutting-edge testing area for tests up to 750 m³/h and 400 m, Speck boasts an outstanding framework for research, development and series testing.

Areas of application:

  • Especially suitable for delivering, filling and draining under difficult physical conditions
  • Suitable for clear to lightly contaminated liquids (similar to water) with no abrasive contamination or solid content
  • Suitable for the delivery of gas shares and self-priming
  • Side channel pumps with an NPSH inducer stage (i.e. with an additional radial impeller) achieve very high NPSH values and can therefore be used with a low suction head. They are very well suited for the delivery of media at temperatures close to boiling point.
  • Higher delivery pressures and higher pressures are achieved with multi-stage designs.

Design:

  • Modular system comprising multi-stage pumps in sections
  • Combi-pump with NPSH inducer stage (ASK)

Positive Displacement Pumps - Gear Pump/Rotary Vane Pump/Oscillating Pump
Speck exclusively offers constant pumps, i.e. pumps with the same volume for each revolution

  • Roller vane pumps (also known as fly pumps)
  • Oscillating piston pumps (also known as vibrating diaphragm pumps)
  • Gear pumps

Areas of application:

  • Displacement pumps are (particularly) suitable for very high pressures and/or delivery pressures at very low flow rates
  • Suitable for clear or cloudy liquids with no abrasive contamination or solid content
  • Suitable for the delivery of gas shares and self-priming
  • No return flow of the medium when stopped

Design:

  • Roller vane pumps and gear pumps with close-coupled design, with magnetic coupling or with mechanical seal
  • Wide performance spectrum for roller vane pumps
  • Gear pumps with canned motor

Liquid Ring Vacuum Pumps - Closed Coupled and Base Plate Version

Liquid ring vacuum pumps are also known as water ring pumps, liquid ring pumps or liquid ring compressors. For decades now, Speck has been developing and manufacturing liquid ring vacuum pumps and has made a name for itself with its innovative, industry-specific advances in this field.

Areas of application:

  • They are used in many sectors in discontinuous and continuous operation in the three basic processes of extraction, leakage extraction and degasification, for example:
extracting dry gases, saturated gases and vapours
    extracting contaminated gases
delivering liquid shares at a constant vacuum
    delivering explosive gases, e.g. hydrogen
  • Oil-free compression, i.e. no oil in the medium nor in the exhaust air
  • Minimum suction pressures possible up to 33 mbar abs., with gas ejectors (also known simply as "ejectors") even possible up to 5 mbar abs.

Design:

  • Wide spectrum of varied single- and two-stage, close-coupled and base plate pump construction designs

Vacuum Systems
Vacuum systems (also called vacuum units, vacuum equipment and compact systems) consist of additional integrated components alongside a vacuum pump. Operational safety and optimum configuration thanks to ideally coordinated system components – for your application too.

Advantages:

  • Prefabricated system solutions offer many advantages – both for the manufacturer of the units and plant operators
  • Just one single supplier for a system solution instead of many suppliers for various components
  • Compact vacuum units with low space requirements/with small dimensions
  • Reduction in assembly time for the customer thanks to plug-and-play vacuum units which are mechanically ready to connect
  • Also the possibility of retrofitting present devices and systems, depending on the design in question
  • Speck ensures the best possible integration of components such as separator tanks, condensers, valve technology, gas ejectors, exhaust gas condensers, sensors, frequency converters and regulation/control systems.
  • Speck undertakes all work steps on behalf of the customer – from the development to the manufacture and the final inspection – with cutting-edge and highly advanced test rigs.

Design:

  • BluSystems – vacuum units for wet and dry calibration of plastic profiles
Huge energy savings thanks to frequency regulation and a smart system solution
  • UniVac – plug-and-play vacuum units
Compact, ready to connect and easy to maintain: vacuum units with highly efficient separator tank, condenser and heat exchanger
